2023 Fall Meeting of APS DNP and JPS:
Dates and Location Change
Due to the catastrophic fires in Maui, the 2023 Fall Meeting of the APS Division of Nuclear Physics and Physical Society of Japan will not be meeting in Maui from October 7-12. Instead, we are pleased to share that the meeting is being rescheduled to the week after Thanksgiving—with approximate dates of November 26-December 1—and the new meeting location will be on another island in the state of Hawaii. The final meeting dates and official location will be announced and registration will reopen once negotiations are completed with the new venue.
We know you will have questions as you plan, and these decisions may deeply inconvenience some attendees. APS DNP and JPS will be providing resources and next steps for travel/logistics, plus updated information about programming in early September. Both societies have deliberated about this event and still strongly desire to host a joint event this year in Hawaii.
We appreciate your patience while the details and logistics are sorted out. If you have already registered for the meeting and booked your hotel at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort no action is required at this time. We ask that you do not contact the hotel as the meeting planning organization is managing these communications. With support from the State of Hawaii and the convention and visitors bureaus, the meeting planners are also working to develop arrangements with other lodging vendors with whom you may have made arrangements. You should contact your airline directly to reschedule or seek a credit/refund.
We are dedicated to advancing science via this important meeting and supporting the Hawaiian community through our attendance; more details will be forthcoming about our commitment to aiding Maui's recovery.

The meeting will take place at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, 69-425 Waikoloa Beach Drive, Waikoloa, HI. The Waikoloa Village is on the ``Big Island'' of Hawaii. All functions will be held at the hotel.

Due to the change in date and location, the organizers of the DNP and JPS Fall Meeting would like to give members who were previously unable to attend the opportunity to submit an abstract.
Submission is only open for new abstracts from people who do not currently have presentations in the program. Anyone with contributed talks already in the program should not submit additional abstracts.
Abstracts should be submitted to DNP Abstract Submission by 17:00 ET on 22 October 2023. Abstracts received will be placed into appropriate sessions as much as possible.
Please note it is possible to change the presenter on abstracts if the author cannot attend but another speaker can present. For those changes, please contact abs-help@aps.org.

- If you registered for a “Waitlist Room” - notifications will be going out next week via email starting Monday, Oct. 30th
- If you previously had a hotel room reserved for Maui and filled out the google form requesting an upgraded room or a downgraded room, and/or requested a reduction or extension of dates, and/or requested an early arrival date or later departure date, those requests are currently under review and those notifications are going out currently on a rolling basis with the majority of notifications being sent the week of Oct. 30th.
- If you had not previously reserved a room but indicated on your google form that you would like one and have not been notified, you are on the waitlist as well and will receive an update the week of Oct. 30th.
- People who had reserved standard resort view rooms for Maui, who filled out the Google form by the deadline, and requested to keep the same resort view room type at the Hilton Waikoloa with the same number of nights, should have already received an updated registration confirmation.

In addition to the Hilton Waikoloa (the meeting hotel), we have also contracted for rooms at the Marriott and Fairmont Orchid as secondary meeting hotels.
CCC has negotiated a special rate of $259 rate + a $30 resort fee/night for the Fairmont. The rate includes parking. There will be shuttle buses provided to the Hilton from the Fairmont.
