Satellite Meetings

  • 26 November, 2023 -   Developing Early Career Physics Mentors

  • 26 November, 2023 -  Workshop On Multi-Messenger Astrophysics  9:00am-6:30pm

The workshop is jointly sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Theoretical and Mathematical Sciences Program, RIKEN, and by the Physics Frontier Center N3AS (Network for Neutrinos, Nuclear Astrophysics, and Symmetries).

Workshop topics include the physics of isolated and merging neutron stars, supernova explosions, and the nucleosynthesis associated with such environments. An important theme is the connection between the underlying microphysics of such systems and observables -- electromagnetic, weak, nucleosynthetic, dynamic, and gravitational.  Discussions will include the flavor physics of trapped, quantum entangled neutrinos; the nuclear equation of state at extremes of density and isospin; and the r-process and its path.

The meeting is open to all. There is no workshop registration fee.  However, we ask potential participants to register  here so we have an accurate head count.

There will be a concluding poster session/reception, 5:30-6:30 pm.  While speaking slots are very limited, participants can reserve a poster slot upon registering.

  • 2 December, 2023 - Nuclear Data for Space Applications

Modern space exploration, conducted for example by NASA’s and JAXA’s missions, relies on accurate nuclear data for simulations and transport calculations. The primary focus of this satellite workshop is to discuss the needs and future perspectives of nuclear data used in space applications. Such applications can range from space radiation shielding and energy deposition, to planetary nuclear spectroscopy, and others. These require improvements to nuclear data libraries, such as ENDF/B, ENSDF, and JENDL, through advancements in nuclear data measurements and predictive modeling capabilities. In case of questions, please contact Shuya Ota (sota@bnl.gov). Registration not required for exclusive participation in this satellite workshop.

28 November and December 1st and 2nd , 2023 -Next-generation streaming workshop

We are using the opportunity of APS and JPS joint meeting to hold the next iteration of the Streaming Workshop readout which was last held in Jefferson Laboratory https://www.jlab.org/streaming-readout-x

This meeting brings together DAQ specialists and experimentalists from all over the world, to discuss the learning experience from existing streaming DAQ systems and collaborate on future Streaming DAQ systems, in particular the EIC.

We are planning to have a one-afternoon session on Tuesday, November 28 to allow for all APS/JPS participants to join and the rest of the meeting will happen after the regular APS/JPS with one evening session on December 1st and one full day on  December 2nd.

- The option to only sign-up to the Streaming Workshop will be possible for people who cannot attend the main meeting.

  • Registration for the workshop and accommodation will be done through the Complete Conference Coordinators, Inc. similar to APS/JPS to be able to receive hotel-negotiated prices.

The DNP 2023 Fall meeting website is supported by FRIB, MSU.
