Description

Transmission coefficients were evaluated applying a quantum-mechanical approach starting from the reflection factor. Reflection factor is a complex function depending on logarithmic derivative, ingoing and outgoing wave functions (as solutions of Schrodinger equation), and parameter of nuclear potentials. Transmission coefficients, for charged and neutral particles, were calculated considering the relation of the definition of regular and irregular Bessel and Coulomb functions and not their approximations like in other methods and approaches largely used in the literature in the analysis of nuclear data.
The Quantum mechanical approach described above was included in a computer program where Hauser – Feshbach formalism was implemented. The codes realized by authors were used in the analysis of nuclear reactions induced by fast neutrons on medium and heavy nuclei followed by the emission of charged particles. In the cross-section evaluations, rectangular potentials and discrete states of residual nuclei were considered. Using a Fermi-gas model of nuclear levels density, transmission coefficients take an integral form and the cross-sections estimations can be extended in the continuum region. Cross-sections and decay constants estimations for some chosen nuclei and fast neutrons reactions are in good agreement with experimental data from the literature.
