Description
Neutron induced charged particle production reactions (n,chp) are of interest in different research fields, among others, astrophysics, nuclear technology and nuclear medicine. In this context, a viability study for measuring (n,chp) reactions at the HiSPANoS facility has been carried out. HiSPANoS, at the Centro Nacional de Aceleradores (CNA), is the only accelerator based neutron source in Spain and, since 2018, it features a nanosecond pulsing system that enables neutron time-of-flight measurements.
Two reactions with standard cross section, 6Li(n,t) and 10B(n,α), have been studied in the epithermal energy region. A full description of the dedicated experimental set up based on silicon detectors will be given and the first experimental results of the corresponding cross sections ratio will be presented. The successful validation experiment opens a new line of research at CNA, with plans to investigate as well (n,f) reactions with the same set up.
