Abstract:
Accuracy of large angle scattering cross section in nuclear data have a large influence on precision of neutron transport calculation in fusion reactor design. In previous research, benchmark experiments for solid target were carried out, however, non-solid targets, which are covered by a casing, could not be dealt with. This is because we could not remove the casing effect in the previous method. In this study, we performed design study of benchmark experiment on large angle scattering cross section for non-solid target covered by a casing. We carried out precise neutron transport in our experimental system with Monte Carlo code, MCNP5, and discussed possibility of measuring large angle scattering neutron flux using an appropriate activation foil. As a result, we found that we could successfully remove effects of neutrons except large angle scattering neutrons from the sample, i.e., neutrons scattered by the container as well as forward scattering neutrons. Now we carrying out experiments and will present the results in the conference.
