About

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the ECRIS20 organizing committee I want first to express my hope that everybody is in good health and is staying safe. Because of the current COVID19-pandemic, we won’t be able to have an in-person meeting for ECRIS20 in East Lansing in September of this year as initially planned. There is still however exciting progress being made and new projects in development that our community would like to both report and hear about. This is why we decided to not postpone the meeting but instead move for a virtual edition of the 24th International Workshop on Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Sources.

The Workshop is a good opportunity to learn about exciting new projects and development in the field of ECR Ion Sources and their related Science & Technology. It is also an opportunity for younger scientists to be involved and learn about this field.

Looking forward to meeting you at ECRIS’20

The ECR workshop will be followed by the North American Charge Breeders (NACB) workshop starting on Thursday, October 1st and finishing Friday, October 2nd also held virtually. More details on NACB will be available from the ECRIS Website.

Please forward the information to your colleagues potentially interested in the Workshop Topics.

Workshop Program

The ECRIS 2020 program will cover fundamental topics of Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion source and related science and technology including:

  • New development and status reports
  • New concepts and next generation
  • Fundamental process and plasma studies
  • ECR based charge breeders
  • Radioactive ion beams
  • Applications and diagnostics
  • Beam extraction and transport
  • Source modeling

Proceedings will be part of the Accelerator Conferences Website (JACoW), http://www.jacow.org/.

Michigan State University is actively monitoring the incidence of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in our region, and has set up a website where you can view MSU travel policy changes as a result of the virus. We have been asked how COVID-19 may impact upcoming events including ECRIS'20. MSU is following guidance from local health departments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding large gatherings, including CDC recommendations on preventing the spread of COVID-19. At this time, ECRIS'20 will take place as planned.
