The workshop on Advancing the sensitivity of precision studies of radioactive atoms and molecules at FRIB will be held at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) on the campus of Michigan State University (MSU) in East Lansing, MI, USA from 17 to 19 of June, 2026.
This focused workshop will host researchers using In-Gas-Jet Laser Ionization Spectroscopy (IGLIS) to FRIB, where efforts are underway to implement the technique as part of the upcoming Spectroscopy for Precision Exploration of Cold jeTs of Radioactive spEcies (SPECTRE) project.
This event will serve as a forum to present recent international progress drawing on developments from KU Leuven, GSI, and GANIL, ranging from ultrasensitive high-resolution laser spectroscopy of heavy actinides to the first forays into cold radioactive molecular spectroscopy using IGLIS. As part of the workshop, there will be two open discussion sessions aiming to how IGLIS can be used as a platform to answer the following questions:
- How can we improve the precision of studies of radioactive molecules for investigations of nuclei, symmetries and the stars?
- How can we explore the electromagnetic properties of nuclei produced closer to the neutron drip line?
We look forward to welcoming you either in-person in East Lansing or online!
