DESCRIPTION:The FRIB-TA Topical Program: Future directions in nuclear bet
a decay at FRIB will be held at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB
) in rooms 1221 A & B on the campus of Michigan State University (MSU) in
East Lansing\, MI USA.\n\n\n\n\nNuclear beta decay is at the heart of und
erstanding the questions that drive nuclear science and fundamental physic
 s. For instance\, beta decays can illuminate the behavior of nuclei at th
e extremes of stability\, interplay with radiative neutron captures to pro
duce the observed elemental abundances\, and potentially hold the key to b
etter understanding what new physics lies beyond the Standard Model. FRIB
is positioned to address these questions with its unique capabilities. \
n\nThe arrival of FRIB concurrent with the growing reach of ab initio nu
clear theory - as well as with the development of experimental approaches
leveraging emerging quantum technologies - potentiates deeper understandin
gs of nuclear structure and fundamental symmetries. Realizing this potenti
al\, however\, will require the coordination of theorists and experimental
ists to hone present models\, craft impactful measurements\, and identify
the problems where synergy is needed to move our knowledge forward. The ai
m of this program is to facilitate that collaboration in the hope of maxim
izing the information our field gains from beta decays in the FRIB era.\n
\nThe primary aim of this program is to overview the current state of theo
retical approaches to modeling beta decays\, to discuss the present exper
imental status\, and to determine how challenges in these areas can be add
ressed to maximize the opportunities presented by a state-of-the-art facil
ity like FRIB. Over the course of the program\, we hope to highlight speci
fic focus areas of nuclear beta decay relevant to FRIB.\n\nThe major topi
cs we will discuss in this Topical Program are:\n\n\n	Refining ab initio
nuclear theory\n	Decay spectroscopy at FRIB and exotic systems\n	Emerging
quantum technologies\n	Radiative corrections\n	Informing astrophysical mod
els\n\n\n\nThe Topical Program is organized by the FRIB Theory Alliance a
nd partially supported by IRL NPA. For selected participants we hope to
provide partial support which may include lodging and some meals. After r
egistration has closed you will be contacted with the support we are able
to provide. We will not provide support for transportation expenses.\n\nPa
